PURPOSE/
SERVICES: The Whole Person, Inc. is a community-based,
consumer-controlled, cross-disability center for
independent living. The center provides core
services geared toward promoting self-help, equal
access, peer role modeling, personal growth, and
empowerment. The scope of services is directed by
individual and community needs.
Medicaid Waiver Programs: Physically Disabled
Waiver program (PD), Head Injury program (HI),
Frail and Elderly Waiver program (FE), Senior Care Act
Other services: Independent living services: individual
advocacy, peer counseling, independent living and
skills training, deaf services, and payroll agent;
community services: community advocacy, community
education, information and referral services, personal
assistance services, and de-institutionalization
ELIGIBILITY: Medicaid guidelines for the Waiver programs and none
for other services
HOURS: 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday
AREA SERVED: Six-county area for the independent living programs
(Johnson and Wyandotte in Kansas; Jackson, Cass, Clay
and Platte in Missouri); services the entire state for the
PD Waiver program
FEES: None, with the exception of accessibility surveys and
technical consultation
