What in-home services are available through the Accessibility program?
Home care services - a homemaker assists with duties that are required to maintain the cleanliness of a home. This may include dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, laundry, changing bed linens, and cleaning bathrooms. Most individuals only require a couple of hours of home care weekly or every other week.
Meals on Wheels - the county offers meal subsidies to individuals with a disability who qualify as needing this service. A hot noon meal is provided Monday – Friday.
Who provides the services?
Home care services - The staff of Human Services includes several home care workers. In addition, various agencies contract with the department to provide home care to eligible individuals.
Meals on Wheels - depending on location and special needs, meals are provided by Shawnee Mission Meals on Wheels, Olathe Meals on Wheels, or Johnson County Meals on Wheels.
What do the in-home services cost?
Home care services- the cost is $17 per hour. Your rate of co-pay is determined by your monthly income.
Meals on Wheels - the full cost of the meals range from $3.50 to $5.25. Your rate of co-pay is determined by your monthly income.
Is there a waiting list for services?
Yes, because of limited funding there is a waiting list.
