and self-sufficiency.

Accessibility Program   Advocates for full access to all aspects of Johnson County life for people with a disability. Provides case management, in-home services, disability awareness, support groups, deaf services, and a telecommunications access demonstration site.


Area Agency on Aging  Assists older adults in maintaining their independence and dignity through services such as information and referral, in-home services, meals-on-wheels, geriatric care management, neighborhood senior centers, legal assistance, Medicare insurance counseling, screenings prior to nursing home placements, and transportation.

Information Program
Offers access  to a wide variety of human service information and programs through a County Information line, Aging Information line, an annual Senior Quest Information Fair,  The Best Times newspaper, and multiple brochures, newsletters, and directories, including the Accessibility Directory and the Senior Directory.
 

Housing Services   Assists low to moderate income families and individuals with access to affordable housing, and offers home repair, weatherization, and rehabilitation programs. The Housing Authority administers Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers for the cities of De Soto, Edgerton, Gardner, Lenexa, Merriam, Mission, Overland Park, Prairie Village, Roeland Park, Shawnee, Springhill and Westwood areas. 
 
Outreach Centers  Provide a safety net of social services for individuals and families in need.  Each center assists individuals and families experiencing difficulty meeting or addressing their social and economic needs.  Social service professionals at each site can advise, assist, and connect people with resources.  Basic services include food pantries, clothes closets, utility assistance, community services management, and a variety of seasonal programs.
