Dear Partner in Aging

The Johnson County Area Agency on Aging, a unit of Johnson County Human Services & Aging,
is proud to bring this newest Senior Directory to you.

It is our mission to help older adults live safe, healthy, independent lives,
and this is a comprehensive, one-stop resource for finding the services that will enable you to do just that.

This year’s cover is a wheat field at sunset, with Kansas’ special beauty.
We hope that you’ll enjoy its colors and the sense of peace and optimism it conveys.

As the year 2009 opens, we face times of momentous change.
Our national government has new leaders and the role of the United States in the world community will evolve.
We watch with anticipation. Many of us have struggled lately with tough economic times that affect
ourselves and our children and grandchildren.

We hope for easier times. New technologies continue to pop onto the scene, promising
new power and convenience. We learn, and we strive to keep up.

But we must not forget the firmament of life’s cycles that do not change:
cycles of birth, maturity, and death; cycles of abundance and
loss, joy and grief; cycles of careless abandon and deep, thoughtful wisdom.

And as we age, most of us will at one time or another find a  need for facilities and support services
to move with greater freedom and stability into an unknown but welcomed future.

Through this directory, we hope to put those facilities and services within reach.
Along with pages of up-to-date information about  organizations and services,
the booklet contains yellow-highlighted entries focusing your attention on services
available through Johnson County Human Services & Aging and the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging.

We hope those entries will raise your awareness about services you didn’t know of, or encourage you
to begin making use of them.   Use this information yourself, and share it with the relatives, caregivers, and friends
who make up your support network.

We look forward to being your partner in aging!
