Roeland Park Community Center:
Fitness Room
Located inside the Roeland Park Community Center, the 900-sq.-ft. fitness room provides safe, quality, and affordable
fitness facilities for adults 18 and over.
"My Story": Mary Engelken
Prairie Village resident Mary Engelken, 74, visits the Roeland Park
Community Center Fitness Room five days a week for about an hour.
“The Fitness Room has truly been a lifesaver for me,” says Engelken. “It has
given me a convenient, affordable way to stay fit, and has opened a door to
many wonderful friendships. Most days you see the same people at the Fitness
Room, and we have become close and really stay in touch with each other.”
Mary has also been inspired to volunteer at the center through her
connections at the Fitness Room. Once a week she packs food for the Meals on
Wheels program at Roeland Park.
“The Fitness Room has become a regular part of my life. I can’t imagine not
going there,” she says.
